As soon as your flowers arrive, remove any packaging and give the stems a fresh cut.
- Cut each stem at a 45-degree angle
- Use sharp scissors or a knife (not blunt tools)
- Trim around 1–2cm off the bottom
Cutting at an angle helps the stems absorb more water, rather than sitting flat at the bottom of the vase where water uptake is reduced.

💧 2. Change the Water Every 2–3 Days
Clean water is one of the most important things for keeping flowers fresh.
- Empty and rinse the vase every 2–3 days
- Refill with fresh, clean water
- Remove any fallen leaves or debris
At our shop, we change the water regularly to keep flowers in the best condition — and doing the same at home will significantly extend their life.
💡 Extra tip: Slightly warm water is better. The flowers have been used to the room temperture, plunging them into cold water is like you jumping into a ice cold bath. Warm water molecules move faster and are absorbed by the stem's xylem more efficiently than cold, 'dormant' water

Flowers don’t like heat — and modern homes are often too warm for them.
- Keep flowers away from radiators and heaters
- Avoid direct sunlight (like windowsills)
- Place them in a cooler room if possible
A conservatory can be ideal in winter, but in summer it can get too hot and dry flowers out quickly.
One of our customers kept there christmas flowers she recieved on the 23th December in her cold conservatory and they lasted to the 15th Janaury before she put them in the recycle dustin
🍎 4. Keep Flowers Away from Fruit
This is a lesser-known tip, but it makes a big difference.
Fruit releases a natural gas called ethylene, which causes flowers to age faster.
If your bouquet is sitting near a fruit bowl, it may not last as long as it should.
